Corporate Products Sell Like Pancakes
Several businesses gain more profit from the other corporate products that they sell further than their main income source. The money that is generated from these items propels the business to expand while waiting for the turnout for their primary commodities. Two industries that get huge profits from merchandise are sports and music thanks to the interest of fans and more people jumping into the bandwagon.
If a sports team would rely on just ticket revenues per game for income, the entity would easily fall apart. Thus, they sell merchandise which carry the team’s name, logo and color. Sports jerseys sell like hotcakes and the money acquired from it goes to the operational expenses of the franchise. Aside from owning the sport shirt of their favourite player, fans would also purchase autographed memorabilia, team shirts, caps and even luggage.
To create a continuous stream of income, sports entities also sell seasonal items like coats for the winter season and beach umbrellas for summer. For their younger fans, the teams also put up team mascot stuffed toys and trading cards for sale. If the product sales of the team’s merchandise are strong, they will continually post profits even if the team is not performing well.
Also, music companies sell merchandise that have the names, logos and faces of their artists aside from album itself. Rather, they increase their cash flow by releasing magazines or videos that gives the ultimate fan experience. The video collections may include official music videos, interviews or all-access footages that a die-hard admirer would do anything to watch.
To enhance their profit, recording companies even sell artist equipment and dolls. The most avid fans do not hesitate in buying these items once they hit the shops. Indeed, the corporate products that sports teams and music companies sell drive their operations to greater heights. However, the revenue from these items is endangered when the group performs poorly or when the artist gets caught up in a scandal.
